Yucatan Peninsula Vacations FAQs

What is a fideicomiso?

A fideicomiso is a real estate trust. The trustee is a Mexican bank and the beneficiary of this real estate trust is you, or whomever purchases the real estate. Right now, the duration of one of these fideicomisos is 50 years. At the end of 50 years, the real estate trust must be renewed. It can be renewed an unlimited amount of times. Of course, there is a limit as to how large a property can be held under a fideicomosio.

Where should I buy Yucatan real estate?

It can be tricky to decide exactly where to buy your Yucatan real estate… there are just so many beautiful places. There is Cancun, Cozumel, Tulum, Playa del Carmen, and other beautiful places. You need to decide how important it is to you to pay extra to have beachside property, or if you do not mind having to drive to the beach. You also need to decide if you want to buy Yucatan real estate close to a main town or city center, or if you want a piece of land as secluded as possible.

You may even decide that you want a piece of real estate a little further inland, like in the delightful town of Merida. Think about the areas that you are going to most want to visit, and then try to find some Yucatan real estate in the middle of those areas.

Which Yucatan hotels are best for you?

If you are young and wild, then you are likely going to want to go to Cancun. And you may not even want to stay in a Yucatan hotel, you may want to stay in a hostel so that you can meet many other youths like your crazy self.

If you are a more mature and a little less adventurous, you are likely going to want to stay in at least 3 star Yucatan hotels, and you are going to want these Yucatan hotels to be in resort-like areas. It can be fun to wander and explore throughout the Yucatan peninsula, but sometimes it is ok if you just want to spend your entire vacation within the close vicinity of your Yucatan hotel. In which case, you are going to want to stay in a very nice Yucatan hotel, full of all the amenitites.
